  • Yokohama is a port town with an exotic atmosphere and the culture from the period when Japan was opened up to the world. With such image, Yokohama’s underlying culture is “Art and music”. You can enjoy not only one of the major events in the city, such as the “Jazz Promenade” and “Yokohama Honmoku Jazz Festival”, but also if you walk along the Nogekoji and Bashamichi at night in a tipsy mood, you will be fascinated by the sounds leaking from live music clubs.
  • There are many jazz, rock, and pop songs born in Yokohama. And the live music clubs and halls that support them also have a presence and stories as the bearers of culture.
  • Billboard Live YOKOHAMA”, another restaurant where many legends have appeared in Tokyo and Osaka, will open in the spring of 2020. The building is a restored historical warehouse of the former Yokohama Raw Silk Inspection Office. They will have their first performance by another legend, Burt Bacharach. A new Yokohama legend will be born from here.
  • If you want to immerse yourself in music at night, you will want to visit the art spaces dotted around the seaside area of Yokohama Port during the day. From the Yokohama Museum of Art, which is the center of art in Yokohama City, to the BankART, which combines city planning and art, and Koganecho, where art spaces are scattered under the viaduct, art blends into the landscape of the city, showing another face of Yokohama. You will discover Yokohama’s charms beyond Chinatown and Motomachi.
