From forest to firmament along the Venus Line scenic route

After lunch we leave the hotel, and for a while drive through forest heading towards Kurumayama mountain. When we arrive at Lake Shirakaba the vista opens up, and our drive becomes pleasantly open road with a view of the lake.
The road from Lake Shirakaba to Kurumayama mountain climbs steadily as if ascending into the sky. In a complete change from the previous forest landscape, there is nothing here to block the view. We drive through the highland plateau with a view of the ridgeline. When the window is open, a fresh breeze pervades the car, blowing away our everyday fatigue and worries at the same time. Forty minutes from the hotel, we reach the highest point on the Venus Line at 1,925 meters.
After driving along level ground for a while, the road takes a winding descent. At one point we pass through mist, but the white vista around is other-worldly and beautiful. Which road shall we take now, I wonder?
